Great Northern Exhibition
by Judi “Scoop” McWilliams
The Great Northern Exhibition, or the GNE as it’s referred to, is located between 3 communities, Collingwood, Wasaga Beach and Stayner.
To me it serves all three communities.
The Fair or Ex is held each September and is a great way for the family to spend an “almost” Fall day!
We had never visited the Great Northern Exhibition before, so we were really looking forward to experiencing it!
To make our visit even better, we were meeting our friends, Lory and Al.
Like so many fairs that we visit, the GNE offers so much for everyone.
The fairgrounds were very crowded when we arrived, so finding Lory and Al was going to be a challenge.
Thank goodness for “cell phones“!
After we met up, we started to explore the Fair.
Our first stop was the exhibit building where the homecrafts were on display.
From there it was a”whirlwind” of experiences.
There were the “farm animals“, a “staple” at all fairs.
From there, the Great Northern Fair offered visitors so much more!
There seemed to be something for everyone! I loved the “dog agility show“.
Gary was fascinated with the tractors, new and old.
The barrel racing caught every ones attention!
The more we explored, the more we enjoyed this “Great” Northern Fair (Exhibition)!
At the end, it was the “roar” of engines that caught our attention!
The “garden tractor pull” was about to begin!
The Great Northern Fair is a wonderful event for the whole family, one that offers so many activities and attractions! If you are looking for a Fall fair to visit, the Great Northern Fair should be on you “to visit” list!
